How to use glass extractor tubes and not blow yourself up

With the rising popularity of growing your own gardens and the good old do it yourself American nature. Thousands of Americans make their own custom concentrates using glass extractor tubes as well as high tech closed loop systems. BHO or butane honey oil or butane hash oil has been around now for quite some time. It has really taken off in the last 5 years. The concept behind the process is quite simple, you place your marijuana inside a glass extractor tube and fill it with liquid butane which will mix inside the glass extractor tube and the butane will get extremely cold and strip away most of the cannabinoids off the plant material. Once the butane is all evaporated, what’s left is BHO.Now although it sounds very simple, there is still things that can go VERY VERY wrong. Butane is very flammable ( it’s commonly used to fuel lighters ) and some people who try to rush the evaporation process have been known to place a pot of liquid butane over an open flame to speed things up. Big mistake! Liquid butane + open flame = blown up house breaking bad style.

The evaporation process or purging is a very important one in getting all that butane out of your wax, but don’t rush it. It’s really not worth it.

There are many different ways to blast wax and a simple search on YouTube can turn up many different results.

Here’s our way.

You will need the following

• Glass Extractor Tube
• 5X or greater Butane
• Glass container ( Flat with medium sides )
• Gloves
• Eye Protection
• A very well ventilated area (outdoors is best)

1.) take your plant material , trimmings, buds, etc and place it in the glass extractor tube2.) take a filter ( the micro size is depending on preference a finer screen will yield a higher quality but lower quantity result ) and secure it over the open end of the glass extractor tube, you want to use a clamp or a really strong rubber band to secure the filter so it doesn’t slip off.

3.) find a glass container to catch all the liquid butane.4.) wear gloves - the glass extractor tube will get very cold, cold enough to burn your hands

5.) take your butane cannister (5X refined or better ) place the nipple valve into the small hole in the glass extractor and press. The screen side should be pointed downwards and the towards the glass container to catch the liquid butane.6.) keep the butane flowing into the glass extractor until the can is empty ( This depends of how much plant material you are using ) You may want to use 1-3 cans of butane

7.) Purging, you should see the liquid butane bubbling away and evaporating right away. The warmer you can make the container the quicker it will all evaporate and finish purging. This is where you can get creative, just don’t place it near any open flames.

Once you have finished the purging process you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.
