Here are 4 of the best and easy ways to clean your dirty bong and get it sparkling clean again

We have all been there, you are smoking your herb and enjoying your pizza while chilling on the couch watching Netflix. The very last thing on your mind is I should rinse this dirty bong bong out before all the resin gets caked on there. Keeping your glass bong water pipe collection nice and clean isn’t only good for looks, it also improves the taste of your flowers clean. Not to mention it can be pretty embarrassing whipping out a dirty bong out for guests to use.

Here are 4 of the best and easy ways to clean your dirty bong and get it sparkling clean again

1. Old School - Iso Rubbing Alcohol + Salt
   
   This is a classic way to clean your glass and has been proven to work and keep your glass safe and clean.
   
   Step 1 - Remove all downstem and bowl and other accessories and water from your bong water pipe.
   
   Step 2 - Fill the bong water pipe with about 15-20% full of Rubbing alcohol and about 4-5 tablespoons of salt ( the coarser the grain the better )
   
   Step 3 - With One hand covering the mouthpiece of the bong and the other hand covering the joint where the glass downstem goes. Hold the bong up securely in both hands and SHAKE! The salt will act as an abrasive and scrub off all that baked and caked on resin, leaving you with a sparkling clean bong.
   
   This method works best on large simple bong likes straight shooters and beakers, if you have a complicated piece like a recycler or a multi honeycomb or frit disc this method may not work as great for you because the salt won’t have room to move around.
   
   

   

2. The Gentle Touch - Denture Tablets
   
   This method is great for smaller accessories like dirty downstems, ashcatchers, bowls, and spoon hand pipes because you don’t have to shake the piece this method is best used on mildly dirty pieces. Perfect for medical marijuana patients who can’t shake their pieces due to physical limitations.
   
   Step 1 - Place your glass accessory in a ziploc bag, place a few denture tablets inside. For bongs and rigs you would place a few tablets inside the piece.
   
   Step 2 - Fill the ziploc bag or the bong with hot water and sit back and wait about 20 minutes.
   
   Step 3 - Rinse out your pipe with hot water and your glass should be sparkling clean.
   
   

   

3. Rabid Boils - The Boiling Method
   
   If you have a stubborn piece that you just can’t seem to get clean you can try the boiling method. This technique requires a pot that can fit your piece, water, and a heating source. It is great for medical marijuana patients who aren’t strong enough to shake their pieces clean. If you can’t lift the pot when it is full of water, place the empty pot on the stove and pour water in a cup at a time until the pot is full.
   
   Step 1 - ALWAYS START with cold / cool water . Place your dirty glass bong into your empty pot on the stove.
   
   Step 2 - Fill with cold or cool water until the water covers the entire glass bong.
   
   Step 3 - Turn on the stove to a medium low heat, slowly bring the water to a simmering boil.
   
   Step 4 - Let the glass bong boil in the water for about 20-30 minutes.
   
   Step 5 - Carefully remove the glass bong from the pot and place on a cooling rack to cool down - DO NOT RINSE WITH COLD WATER
   
   Step 6 - Once cool to the touch you can rinse the glass bong with hot water from the sink.
   
   

   

4. Lets get baked! - The Self Cleaning Bong Oven Technique
   
   This technique is my favorite for cleaning really dirty bongs. It is important to note that this will only work on pure glass bongs. Do not try this method with electro-formed pieces or bongs that have a rubber grommet. ** Warning ** This method will make your kitchen smell! So only do this is you live in a Legal State
   
   Step 1 - Take your dirty bong and remove all downstems and bowls and any other accessories attached to the bong.
   
   Step 2 - Place inside your room temperature oven, somewhere in the middle is just fine.
   
   Step 3 - Close the door and set the oven on self clean mode. This will raise the tempurature of your oven to a scorching hot 500 degrees. This will cook off any baked on resins left over.
   
   Step 4 - Once the self cleaning cycle has finished let the oven cool down slowly - do not take hot glass and run in under cold water unless you want to shatter your glass bong. Once your oven has cooled down to room temp you can Take your piece and rinse with hot water and your glass should be super clean.
